Our Story

Nynke and Nadine met in 2019 while living in Denmark, brought together by a shared passion for beekeeping. As they delved deeper into pollinator conservation, they realized the urgent need to take action not just for honeybees but for wild pollinators as well. Pollination is connected to everything around us. We need insects, birds and other pollinators to safeguard healthy habitats and to secure humanity’s wellbeing.
Pollinator Ambassadors began with a focus on policy advocacy and research, working to influence decision-makers and improve conditions for young people involved in pollinator conservation. Through their commitment to assessing the impact of each project, they developed a deep understanding of diverse stakeholders and how to identify leverage points for meaningful change. Systems Thinking became their guiding tool, helping them refine their approach and make their work more effective.

Unsere Vision

This journey led us to a powerful realization: art is a key force in regenerating pollinators. Scientific knowledge alone is not enough to halt biodiversity loss—we must also engage people on an emotional level. By leveraging creativity, we craft new imaginaries, communicate science accessibly, and inspire action. We envision a world where human-made spaces actively regenerate biodiversity.  By integrating art, design, and science, we want to make ecological responsibility a natural part of everyday life.

Unsere Mission

Pollinators are declining worldwide. Not only honey-bees managed by beekeepers have it tough, but especially wild bees, bats, birds, and butterflies are facing extinction. Without pollinators, entire ecosystems will collapse as well as agriculture as we know it. The cause for the declines are complex, which is why transdisciplinary approaches are key.

As scientists, activists and artists, our creative approach transforms the biodiversity crisis into an opportunity. Our mission is to bridge activism, creativity, and ecology to create impactful, measurable, and systemic solutions for pollinator conservation. Our main tool is science communication, expressed through creative interventions, educational workshops, and public speaking.

Nynke Blömer

Nynke Blömer

Co-Founder & President

Nynke is a conservation scientist and beekeeper, currently based at the University of Cambridge. At Pollinator Ambassadors she delivers workshops, provides expert knowledge and insight into pollinator science, and leads reporting tasks as co-president. Her research focuses on how honey bees and wild bees share landscapes. She works with beekeepers in the Cambridgeshire area to measure how honey bees could be impacting bumblebees. She is also a science communicator with the BBKA News, the monthly print newsletter of the British Beekeepers’ Association, where she writes a monthly segment on the latest science and news concerning bees. She holds a BSc in Liberal Arts and Sciences: Sustainability from Leiden University College and an Erasmus Mundus MSc in Sustainable Forest and Nature Management, and has experience in working in the science-policy interface with organisations at the Cambridge Conservation Initiative. She is passionate about youth empowerment and intergenerational justice and volunteers with the Global Youth Biodiversity Network.
