#BikeforBees
We didn’t just research Citizen Engagement—We cycled 1,300 km to experience it firsthand
Project Year: 2021
What is #BikeforBees
In 2021, Nadine set out to inspire action for pollinator conservation through an ambitious bike tour across Austria, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia. The bike tour happened alongside the research project “Pollinating Projects,” and resulted in all workshop and research locations being visited by bike. The mission: raising awareness about the vital role of pollinators and the challenges they face.
More Achievements
Elected as a top 4 finalist for the first edition of the Golden Bee Award for our work on Bike4Bees and Pollinating Projects.
Purpose
Starting in Austria on World Bee Day (May 20, 2021), Nadine cycled over 1,300 km in 48 days, engaging with beekeepers, young people, and locals along the way. The journey fostered spontaneous encounters and breathtaking views of landscapes—and their smallest yet most essential inhabitants: pollinators. Through workshops, dialogues, and social media, Bike4Bees highlighted pollinator conservation, CO2-neutral mobility, and the joy of reconnecting with nature.
