What is a Pollinator?

pollinator is an animal that causes plants to make fruits or seeds. By moving pollen from one part of the flower of a plant to another, new seeds are created that grow into new plants. The transfer of pollen is crucial for a diverse plant habitat and is the main means of producing food for human and animal consumption.

Pollinators include bees, such as honey bees or bumblebes, butterflies, moths and flower beetles. Vertebrates, mainly bats and birds, can also pollinate plants.
Even monkeys, lemurs and lizards are capable of pollination!

What’s an Ambassador?

An ambassador is a representative or promoter of a specified activity, in this case pollination! As an ambassador you represent something that you deeply care for, and that you know quite a bit about.

Let’s put it together, then.

We understand Pollinator Ambassadors as engaged people in the field of pollinator protection. They bring specified plant knowledge, know their local ecosystem like the backs of their hands and take actions to save honeybees, wild bees and butterflies. Small-scale projects like insect hotel builders or community gardeners deserve a fresh and strong confidence. Businesses engaging in sustainable parctices are Pollinator Ambassadors as well! Thanks to their efforts, the protection of pollinators is tangible on all levels.

We help other Pollinator Ambassadors to get what they need. Publicity, Self-Confidence, Capacity Building and direct small grants for their projects.

Write us about your efforts to make life easier for pollinators, and we’ll do our best to support you!
