The Hive – A Unique Teambuilding Game Inspired by Honeybees
Step into the world of honeybees and experience how collective intelligence can transform teamwork. The Hive is an immersive, interactive performance that strengthens collaboration, communication, and leadership—by mirroring the decision-making processes of nature’s most intelligent insect.
What is The Hive?
Imagine a world where your team mirrors the incredible decision-making process of honeybees in crisis situations. The Hive guides participants to better understand their own communication patterns, decision-making processes, and leadership styles by tapping into the collective behavior of bees. It’s an unparalleled way to build and enhance team dynamics, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
The Hive is more than just a game—it’s an interactive performance that immerses participants, using social biomimicry to unlock the secrets of collective intelligence, communication, and nature-based leadership. The game is concluded with a reflection on learnings and application to your organisation’s challenges and opportunities.
Who made this?
The Hive is unique worldwide – developed by Nadine, political scientist and beekeeper, who already dreamed of writing her thesis on the honeybee “state” and Nynke, bumblebee scientist, and beekeeper. No other team has created an interactive teambuilding game like this; we checked. After three years of piloting the game across several countries and languages, the material design was developed in collaboration with the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
Who is it for?
- Organisations: For teams seeking a fresh, impactful way to build stronger collaboration while connecting through nature.
- Schools and Universities: Recommended for students aged 16+, to improve group dynamics and explore nature-based learning.
What Will You Learn?
- Decision-Making & Communication: Recognize strengths and weaknesses and make collaborative decisions—just like the bees. Through trust and enhanced communication skills, bees teach us to rethink—and potentially improve—human systems such as democracy or sociocracy.
- Biodiversity Awareness: Deepening understanding of pollinators, their role in ecosystems, and how we can contribute to regeneration.
